| As seasoned Francophiles, Maurice and Angela Kelly were first attracted to the Alps by the relaxing ambience of the French way of life - not to mention the food and the wine that come hand in hand with it! Coupled with the serenity of the mountains and the cooler climate that the region offers over many other parts of France, the Haute Savoir made an ideal holiday destination for their young family. Indeed, the Kellys had been visiting Morzine every summer with their two children for five years before they decided to buy a family chalet in the town. With many more holidays ahead of them, and the possibility of moving out permanently in the future, they were keen to secure a chalet that could provide a homely base for the family in both summer and winter. Furthermore, they were keen to use their purchase as an investment by receiving a rental income from their property. Having made the decision to look for somewhere in Morzine, the Kellys contacted Alpine Property with their requirements. When the owners of 'Chalet Pops' asked Alpine Property to sell their holiday home, the Kellys were immediately contacted with the details. As a three bedroom, three bathroom newly built property, Chalet Pops offered the great views, short walk to Morzine and access to the ski lifts that they were after. As the chalet was being rented out by the current owners, Alpine Property suggested that the Kellys stayed there to properly get a feel for it. One month later, and half a week into their stay at 'Pops' the Kellys had already fallen in love with the place. Through Alpine Property they were put in contact with holiday firms that they thought might be interested in renting out the chalet from them. By the end of their week long stay, the Kellys had not only found a firm to rent the property off them during the summer and winter, but had had their offer at the asking price accepted. The following month, Maurice retuned to France and was accompanied by Alpine Property when he signed the Compromi de Vente in St Jean D'Alps. They also negotiated to buy the chalet's furnishings separately with the sellers, who remained in the UK to sign. With the initial contact from Alpine Property being in July and the completion of the sale being during December, the Kelly's purchase of Chalet Pops represents a particularly quick and efficient sale. The fact that they were buying the property with savings rather than taking out a mortgage meant that they were able to acquire the property in time for the important winter rental market. Following the completion in France in December, all parties (Alpine Property included!) enjoyed a celebratory lunch in a Morzine restaurant. Now enjoying their investment on both summer and winter holidays, the Kellys are very happy with the way things have gone. With only a spot of re-varnishing needed in terms of renovations, they have had time to enjoy adding to the basic furnishings that were already in place. Angela in particular has got great pleasure from trawling through the various gift and craft shops in Morzine finding traditional Savoir decorations for their new home. As well as the immediate benefit they have received from the rental income, an added bonus is that they also feel the value of the chalet has increased significantly since they bought it… so much so that they are now considering purchasing a second property in the area as an investment. Best Part The celebratory meal in Morzine when we'd officially bought the chalet. Worst Part Waiting to hear whether our offer had been accepted - we really wanted the chalet! The Alpine Property Part Although we have a working knowledge of French, we couldn't have completed the lengthy legal procedures without the help and advice of Alpine Property. They were also great in helping us arrange a rental income from the chalet and negotiating the sale of all the furnishings. Enjoy a few of the Kelly family photos below...
